As I’m manually pulling in content from an old, outdated blogging platform, my “From the Vault” series features archive posts from Tiffany Tastes version 1.0.

Tiffany Tastes readers will remember that I’m no stranger to casino buffets or Mississippi restaurants in general. Last weekend, I was invited to experience the brand new Buffet Americana at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, MS.

This unique dining experience is the culmination of an $8 million renovation. The 13,500 square-foot space was freshened up with a sleek, contemporary design, upscale finishes and modern fixtures.

While the Gold Strike’s new culinary crown jewel features casino buffet standards like a variety of pizzas, an extensive salad bar, savory Southern fare and carved-to-order meats such as ham, turkey and prime rib, Buffet Americana really excels in providing dining options that you can’t get anywhere else in Tunica.

One of my favorite new additions is the Mongolian grill. Diners can choose a protein (beef, chicken or shrimp), pile on some fresh veggies, select a starch (noodles or rice) and a sauce (Might I suggest the ginger hoisin?) and in just a few short minutes, a completely customized entree is ready to be enjoyed.

The buffet also boasts a station that offers kabobs and tikka, as well as naan and pita bread, which are all made possible by the only authentic Tandoori oven in the state of Mississippi.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Buffet Americana provides complimentary beer and wine. When I was there, they choices were Bud Light and Ghost River Pale Ale, as well as a house merlot, chardonnay and white zinfandel. While it is customary to receive courtesy alcoholic beverages while gambling, this is the first casino in Tunica that includes this service in the price of the meal.

For the best value, visit Buffet Americana on Friday or Saturday night. On Friday, you can feast on all-you-can-eat snow crabs, and on Saturday, indulge in unlimited whole lobsters. For the price of admission (a very reasonable $26.99), it’s easy to get your money’s worth.

Full Disclosure: The Gold Strike PR folks provided me with two complimentary meals and a one-night hotel stay. But as always, views are my own.
